As the nation’s largest, contiguous group of Victorian-era townhouses, and a National Historic Landmark District, the Fan has been a Richmond favorite for decades. Historic house and city-living enthusiasts are drawn to its well-built and beautifully adorned homes and the nationally recognized, architect-designed stand-out homes on Monument Avenue. Fan houses include Queen Anne row houses, Colonial, Richardsonian Romanesque, Italianate, Tudor, Arts and Crafts and Italian and Spanish revival styles. Sizes range from about 1,300 to 10,000 square feet and were largely built between 1895 and 1925. The neighborhood is filled with churches, schools, restaurants, and galleries making it a walker’s and architectural enthusiast’s delight.
